When is TEDxPiscataquaRiver?

TEDxPiscataquaRiver will be held Friday, September 7, 2018. This will be a full day event, and will be streaming online.

Where is it?

TEDxPiscataquaRiver 2018 will take place at The Music Hall, 28 Chestnut Street, Portsmouth, NH 03801.

Schedule

This will be a full day event, with our program running roughly 9:00am – 6:00pm.

We will have four sessions packed with speakers presenting insightful and groundbreaking ideas, captivating perofrmances and curated TED Talk videos. We will have a morning and afternoon experiential break and a lunch hour (lunch is included with your ticket purchase).

We thoughtfully craft the day to experienced as a whole — therefore, we only offer full-day tickets, and strongly encourage attendees to be present for the entire day. Each session is created with a diverse audience in mind, so there are takeaways of interest for all kinds of community members in each session.

How can I attend?

#1 — Live & In Person

Tickets for TEDxPiscataquaRiver 2018 will go sale on TheMusicHall.org on Friday, July 27th (online at 10am/Box Office opens at noon for walk-ups/phone orders). If you want to get alerts when tickets go on sale, you can sign up for ticketing email alerts at: http://eepurl.com/vSDXz

Tickets for TEDxPiscataquaRiver 2017 sold out in just over 2 hours. We recommend that once ticket on-sale date is announced, you mark your calendar and set an alarm to buy your tickets! We have triple the capacity this year, but still expect tickets to sell very quickly.

#2 — Watch Live Online or at a Watch Party

We also have live-streamed our event for free every year, so that everyone who is unable to get a ticket to attend in person can watch the event live.

You can organize your own watch party and tune in on our website from your home, office, classroom or other internet-connected location.

The livestream is only up during the event — after that, the livestream is taken down and official videos of each talk and performance are produced and submitted to TED for approval and publishing on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel. Typically talks take 1-2 weeks after the event to go live on YouTube.

We are happy to list any public watch parties here as they are added.

**If you're organizing a watch party that you'd like us to share, please let us know!***

#3 — Watch Anytime at TEDxPiscataquaRiver.com

If you cannot attend the live event or official watch party, or stream the live event, you can retroactively attend the talks online on your own time.

We will be posting all TEDxPiscataquaRiver talks online within 30 days of the event (although typically within 10-14 days), where you can watch them on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel. Links to all of our talks can be found on our Photos & Videos page.

*Tell me more about the ticket distribution model.

In 2015, TEDxPiscataquaRiver qualified for an upgraded license to host more than 100 people (hooray!). The capacity at our 2016 and 107 venue, 3S Artspace, was capped at 200. In 2018, the move to The Music Hall will allow us to more than triple our audience, and we are planning for a seated capacity of 650. Some of these seats will be reserved for speakers and their guests, sponsors and partners, TEDx team members, student delegates and leaders in local and regional government. Most tickets will simply be available to the general public.

Our local audience for TEDxPiscataquaRiver has traditionally included community leaders in the business, nonprofit, arts, education and governement sectors. We have worked hard to make sure that we had local high school and college students in attendance, as well as community delegates in decision-making roles relevant to the ideas being shared on stage. We will continue this commitment.

Since we expect demand for this event to exceed capacity even at our larger venue, we have been very thoughtful about ticket distribution. We also decided to provide several alternative ways to participate, including a livestream of the event online, so that everyone who wants to attend will be able to do so in some way. While TED encourages a curated attendee list, TEDx organizers are free to determine who will attend — and it's our goal to continue to make the event available to more people each year.

Our approach to determining TEDxPiscataquaRiver attendees is based on the principles of diversity and inclusiveness. We have thoughtfully and strategically developed a ticket distribution model that we feel will strikes a balance between making the event accessible to the public while ensuring a diverse audience that spans a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. Having a free livestream available each year is also in line with our mission to spread great ideas.
